Africa's art, creative and cultural commodities account for some of the continent’s biggest exports to the world. And the creative and cultural industries (CCI) across Africa have a growth rate that outpace other sectors on the continent.

It has been predicted that the African continent will be hit hardest by the global climate crisis, despite its minimal 3%contribution to global carbon emissions.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) estimates that Africa will need investments of over $3 trillion in mitigation and adaptation by 2030 in order to implement its NDCs.

This signifies that adaptation to and mitigation of the adverse impacts of climate change on the continent requires a sense of urgency for the deployment solutions that leverage and harness every resource opportunity to address the effects of the climate crisis.

Activating the Potential of Art, Creative &Cultural Industries As A Tool to Promote Climate Justice & Mobilize Climate Finance.

According to the African Development Bank (AfDB),the increasingly frequent climate-related disasters are costing countries between $7 billion to $15 billion year, with an estimated projection of these losses rising to $50 billion annually by 2030.

In order to drive climate adaptation, African countries need to raise an annual average of $124 billion. Today, they are receiving only $28 billion a year in climate finance.

The Eco2rybefrica Platform aims to respond to the urgency and scale of the climate crisis in the African region, as well as the need for innovative solutions to unlock and accelerate access to climate finance. Through the 'Green ACCESS' Africa Campaign, which is a 'Crea8 2 Green Africa 'initiative backed by an African Art, Culture &Creative Talent and Commodities Marketplace to promote sustainability and climate action at the community level across African societies.
